Absolutely love the pic!! Our Akita was the BEST dog we've ever had. She lived until she was 15 and I could not even begin to describe to you her loyalty! As for the Bears, well the Akita was bred to fend off those dudes from the children of the tribes (and for hunting Bear). So, if I were a Bear, I would steer clear LOL

15 years that is amazing, my first Akita passed away due to lymph node cancer at 5, so hope I am doing everything right for these two to be around for a long long time. Jager the dark male just turned 8 and Kihei is about to be 6. And agree the loyalty is like no other, 2 years ago they chased a male grizzly away from us, have never seen a grizzly with fear in its eyes before, best part is they came back when I called them. Before that they had kept a large pack of wolves at least a dozen of them at bay when I was in the back country alone one night until first light, ironically just after I lost my bear banger lol.

Sorry to hear about your first Akita! We are definitely lucky to have had our Akita with us for 15 years. She blew away the expected life cycle. And, she was very playful still until about the last 6 months. She then degenerated very quickly due to cancer and old age. She was on the small side for the breed at 120 pounds. But she turned heads everywhere she went. Everyone wanted to pet her. She had more paparazzi then any big name in the industry. LOL Take care of those beautiful beasts! If any dog lovers here on the forum have not seen the movie Hachi, see it! You will see their fierce loyalty. Nikita, our dog, used to wait by the door soldier style until we came home. She couldn't relax until she knew we were safely home. She also used to put herself between a stranger and the kids. Literally blocking the stranger's reach to the kids. Awesome!!

Another quick fact, there were only said to be 16 Akita's left in Japan after the war. One man bred these beautiful creatures back to relevancy. Great story!! Admire Swede71's companions....as this is a VERY special breed!!! Would love to hear some stories about them!

Wow thats quite a dramatic shot ! So do you always bring studio lighting with you because that's not sunlight reflecting off your rig. And how did you perfectly expose the vehicles interior while outdoors ? HDR pic? Sorry, it's just that your Runner looks so out of place in that image. Odd (blending) distortion on the passenger side A-Pillar and the rear roof rack cap looks cut off but I'd still love to see the original capture. Btw, if that's not 100% photoshop you did a great job and you truly have mad photography skills...even if it looks fake. You might want to add some natural looking shadows and darken the skid plate too, as mud doesnt reflect light very well. Can you tell that ive been critiquing the technical aspects of images for many years lol? Oh and I'm def harder on somebody that has the word 'PHOTO' or 'PICS' in their username, because IMO you have to earn that right

Thanks! And thanks too for the comments! You are correct that sunlight wasn't the source of lighting. What I did was "light paint" using a 1 ft square LED light panel attached to a painter's pole. I take many different exposures "light painting" different areas. I also use smaller lights for exposures for the interior. I shoot tethered to a laptop using Lightroom. In post processing, all these different exposures are layered into Photoshop using varying opacities and brushes to get the look I want. I learned these techniques from John Hartman who taught a class on this at Texas School, a Professional Photographers of America affiliated school. This was my first light painting project after taking the course and I feel I have since improved. But I had just bought my Quicksand and just had to light paint it right away! I tried to see the A-pillar distortion you noticed but couldn't see it myself. I will delve into the full rez file to try and see what's going on. I know one mistake I made was opening the passenger side door and getting into the seat to do some light painting inside. With the Pro's soft suspension, my weight caused the suspension to settle a bit. I later saw that my exposures afterwards were out of registration with the earlier shots. So that may account for what you noticed. Lesson learned for me! I also layered in a more dramatic sky that what actually existed. All in all I was going for somewhat of a surreal look. I have attached a before photo.

So I actually cleaned up the inside on Saturday and had my neighbor do some chip repair work while I was at work on Sunday. He also did one of those foam washes and what a difference on how clean the car looks.

I snapped this picture on the way out of the office Monday as I couldn't believe how nice the paint looked.

I admire the effort that you took for the shot (it's MUCH more than I'd ever take lol) I'm actually amazed that you didn't 'place' your Runner in the frame that was from another photo session. I think you'd have nailed the shot if the added light was more dispersed and were a warmer temperature (or an amber filter was placed over the light source) as the white light was the first thing that jumped out at me as a bad photoshop job lol. Keep on experimenting with teqniques, you are def on the right track and you obviously possess a lot of creativity!

...and yeah I know, everybody's gotta be a critic lol. Cheers brother !!
