Can you help identify this electrical plug behind the PS resevoir?

While flushing and filling the power steering fluid on my 3rd gen I noticed an unplugged electrical connection behind the power steering reservoir and above the A/C compressor. Does anybody know what this is for?

I have a 2000 Sport SR5 5spd. I'm guessing this plug is for a feature not included on my truck.

Is is the sensor actually connected to the p/s pump? Not 100% sure what you are referring to being there are multiple connectors in your picture. If its the one on the P/S pump I think this may be it....

[MENTION=48892]slomatt[/MENTION] as others have said, the pink wire behind the power steering reservoir is likely your power steering idle-up switch.

If you need to repair it, the part numbers are:

- 9098011428
- 8299812440

One part is a connector housing and the other is a wire with the connector attached.

Here’s mine after repair:

When your PS idle-up switch is working, your RPMs will briefly increase a little bit when you are idling or going very slowly (like a driveway or parking lot), and you crank the steering wheel.

EDIT: I should add that the original connector housing looks like yours in the photo, and the replacement connector housing is bigger and gray like in my photo. But it works. I have a 2000 SR-5.

Have you tried plugging it into the matching connector about 2" away from it?

(yes, PS idle-up switch)

Thanks for all the replies. I was in a rush when finishing up the power steering flush and completely missed the connector. Doh. Based on the amount of dust in the plug it's been disconnected for a while, probably since the timing belt was changed.

Luckily, it is probably the least important plug related to the engine...
