California legalized pickpocketing...

I normally fill up my truck by my job near LAX for $4.15 Reg, $4.25 Mid-Grade or $4.35 High-Grade.

Today I went to Rancho Cucamonga and had to get gas before coming back. It was a normal gas station not near an amusement park or mall or in a secluded area. REGULAR WAS "F" ing $4.49 a gallon! WTF...It felt like someone literally went in my pocket and stole some $$$. This is out of control. I never complain about gas consumption from my V8. I could care less how much the truck burns. I do want to pay a reasonable price though, especially compared to the other states in the country. We have several major U.S. ports in this state. Why is EVERYHTING so much higher in CA?

I moved back here 1.5 yrs ago from FL. Man, do I miss FL sometimes. No state taxes, low property taxes, freedom to own, practice and use my guns to protect my property and family and a low cost of living that allows a good middle class life.

Maybe it's time to re-evaluate this smoggy, overpopulated, overpriced and overall over-rated place?

3.67 here. whenever i go to cali make sure to fill up right before crossing the border, cause as soon as you do its an extra buck a gallon. makes no sense to me.

For a while it was almost 5 bucks were I live in Washington. Remember running out of gas twice that week and had to get picked up by my parents lol

I grew up and went to college in VA and I have lived in 6 different states since my college days. ALL of those states matched cost of living with income potential.

Ex. $180k gets you approx 3200sq ft, a pool, granite, 2 car garage, 12-15 ft ceilings and very likely a golf course or lake access in Orlando.

$380k gets you a house in "da hood" that was built in the 20's-30's and is 1300sq ft OR a miserable 40 mile commute to LA from one of the valleys and a 1970's-80's built home with 1600-1800sq ft at best.

Local tax is close to 10%, milk, eggs, juice and food in general is ridiculous. A gallon of milk in LA is $5...2 gallons cost $5 in Orlando.

I'm just venting. I know I chose this for myself, but damnnn it gets frustrating sometimes. Especially when it really shouldn't be this high. Middle class is now lower class and lower class is living at the poverty level. I'm thankful my wife and I do very well and are truly blessed in all areas of our life. Both of our jobs can be transferred at a moments notice to just about anywhere we would want to live. Just thinking it may be time go back to a better quality of life.

For all those people that can't wait to get to Cali...know what you're coming to and research it well before assuming you can just come here and make it happen for yourself. There are tons of actors and models living on the streets or doing "favors" to support themselves here.

I'm a college recruiter and I can't tell you how many students I know that "live" in their cars and are desperately trying to finish college in hopes of having a better life afterwards. Many of them are in their 30's and early 40's trying to re-launch themselves in a new career because their previous career closed, laid off or moved abroad because of the U.S. facility costs and insanely high taxation on everything.

Florida's economy is in the toilet,the housing market is under water and finding a good job in Florida isn't easy. Florida's nice if you have a good job but they have alot of the same issues as Cali does but a little more affordable.

Same thing in CT. Prices range from $3.73 in Hicksville to $4.14 in Yuppieville. (I am a member of Hickville.)

Cali is in the toilet too, but costs didn't drop one bit. As a matter of fact living expense have increased at the normal pace of inflation if not higher.

As far as Canada goes...your minimum wage is what tons of people in the U.S. would consider a good job. Sure goods are higher there, but the pay corresponds to the cost of goods.

I'm far from rich or upper class in terms of income, but we can and do pay our bills and have extra for luxuries (like a 4Runner) and vacations and savings. Doesn't make it right to place goods at the highest price point making the majority live in suffer.

This is why crime is so high in CA, MI, FL, TX, LA, AL and all the other cities that were effected the most by the housing downfall and the loss of jobs. When I was young people stole for pleasure items. They steal to eat now.

Knowing what you have AND what others don't have goes a long way. What you say is truth speak to an extent. I think that before the great recession the hierarchy of needs was not food clothing shelter as it is now.

But peeps is still stealing cigarettes, TVs, etc.

Now that's irony...you wouldn't have been overly surprised had it really been legal to pickpocket in CA. Why would you?...marijuana is legal here with an id card that can be had anywhere for $20, legal prostitution is within a short driving distance to CA, gambling is legal here and the Indian Casinos don't even pay taxes to the state, speeding is OK, if you can pay the ticket and fines it won't even go on your insurance or DMV record. Everything is legal here if you have the $$$ to do it.

where I live.. is $4.17 for 87 and $4.37 for 91 at Costco..

I just don't get it.. oil price is coming down but yet our gas is going up.. in less than an week.. it increased $0.20 cent..

everythign is going up except our pay lol. look at your grocery receipt next time, its ridiculous! and what about normal maintenance costs at dealership nowadays? its just wrong.

I too can afford to pay my bills, fill up my car, etc.. but if this continues maybe i wont. the middle class is gone. now your either rich or poor. its sad

i whole heartedly agree... TX is still doing OK, I live down in San Antonio & can get by for the most part.. but I wish I had the money to fix all the small stuff on my truck that is getting bigger. I agree, our govn't is gone to ****, our politicians ai whole heartedly agree... We pay $5 a gallon here in Toronto. Guess we get some benefit out of the taxes though.
