What head unit model are you referring to? Also, if you have a JBL unit in your 4Runner, then there are difficulties with this mod.

from my short amount of research, i am getting that one just needs to run a PAC TATO, another metra harness and maybe a littler soldering and all is well. is this not the case?
I would really like to run one of these touch screen 2014 FRS scion/pioneer units in my 05 JBL equipped vehicle in order to hook up a backup camera and have an OEM looking screen for it. I could care less about navigation, i have a phone for that.

It will work just fine as long as you buy the harness and adapters I listed before. I had this unit before going to the screen.

I drive a 3rd gen and i was wondering this 6.1 screen would fit my truck.
as far as i know all toyota double din are the same size so yes it would fit fine
great! and to make everything work i would need the said cable/adapters/usb things right?
should i be looking at the GPS unit? or is it super shitty...lol
They aren't actually. The tacomas are bigger.

I know 2nd gen for sure. I purchased an Entune nav unit out of a 2014 Tacoma and it would not fit the dash in my 4runner. Wiring is the same, but its too big for the opening, you would have to trim a decent amount of the dash to make it fit.

as far as i know they are like none of the older toyotas. that is a lot like the new 5th gens and new tundras. its not a regular toyota doubld din but more of a integrated unit

Phone steering wheel controls?
I installed the 2013 FRS touch screen radio in my 04 sport and was wondering if the phone steering wheel controls on the right side would be compatible with this head unit. Currently I have the left side steering wheel controls (volume, tuning, mode buttons) but have nothing on the right side (just blank plate). I have seen threads here on how to install the right side cluster but it was my understanding that they would only work on OEM head units. Since this is a scion head unit I thought maybe they would be compatible. What are everyone's thoughts on this??? Thanks in advance

do you have the JBL system? I am trying to figure out if this FRS screen will fit my 05 w/ JBL. I would like to use it for a backup camera screen.
[MENTION=30225]yosh2000[/MENTION] yes i have the JBL synthesis in my 04 Sport. I was able to get the 2013 FRS radio working using the TYTO-01 adapter however I am not pleased with the adapter. The 2013 does have preouts (RCA) unlike the 2014 which allows you to use the TYTO-01. The sound cuts in and out on occasion. At first it didn't really bug me but after driving from Baltimore to Vermont and back I decided to get an aftermarket amp and ditch the JBL amp. In the process of doing this now. Once I am done I will post an update here. Hope this helps.
