Westin Safari Bar & Piaa 520s install and the problem that came after...

heres my picture of the newest addtions...
the whole install took about a hour to complete the only pain about it was trying to fit the switch plug through the itty bitty hole on the electrical grommet, other than that it was a piece of cake.

today i noticed i have a little problem though, when i was heading home from work this morning i hit the auto open button on my sunroof and it would auto open, i had to hold the button to open and close it. i was thinking maybe i messed something up with my install last night - but how could i? i never tapped into any wires, the wires from the light just hooked up the battery. so i turned off the car maybe to reset the system but im still getting the same thing. any ideas????

I am a little jealous for I was shopping for the 510's and nobody had them in stock, and the 520's according to Safari's dimensions they were not supposed to fit. Well you shown they do fit; oh well I like my existing PIAA's which I hardly ever use anyhow.

As far as the problem with the moonroof that is just pure coincidence. One of the guys on this site reported the same problem, and I get it every once in awhile. If you looked up in your manual you will find that it will tell you to press and hold the button for tilt mode. When it tilts keep holding, and you will hear it do something else; after that it's reprogrammed and it will work fine.

If this explanation does not make sense, do a search on my name for the similar post or just refer to your manual.

Your Awesome Man! thanks it worked now it back to normal. maybe it just messed it up because i disconnected the battery. well what ever it was it fixed now...

thanks, i was wondering if they would work to after what you said. maybe the guy was just trying to push what he had in stock (u know salesman) but anywho i love the lights so far. at night they give off a yellow purple light which lights up much better now with my low beams. all i need to do it run a wire to my parking light so they will auto off with my headlights and aims the lights accordingly- i was too tired to do it last night

It looks really good! I was thinking of getting the same light bar. It looks good on your rig and sounds like it was easy to install.

About the sunroof, when you unplug the battery it clears the auto memory. Just have to do it manually both ways once and it will program it. Should work from then on. :thumb:

Man, now I'm suffering PIAA envy!

I spent my Saturday adding some PIAA 510s to my Westin Safari Bar, and now that I see your 520s, I like yours better...

Better start saving some cash...

It's not hard, BUT depending if you have the right tools, and a good angle, getting those bolts off can be a real bitch. I had to take my truck to my buddy who is a transmission guy, and he had to put it on the lift and was able to remove 3 out of 4 bolts with the impact gun. Number four would not come off, so it took two wrenches to make one long wrench to get the leverage he needed to remove it. Also that extra step this guy did painting it the same color as the car makes it look even nicer.
