How to paint hub inside wheel bc you didn't get hub caps

First time posting an how to. Plain and simple. My boy Vin with Stealth Custom Series blessed me with an offer I couldn't refuse. Any how the f5 don't come with hub caps no worries they look better without. Here is a how to paint those rusty hubs if they're Rusty that is.

Follow directions per the owners manual book to take wheel off.

Hub equals 4.25" diameter.

Old pizza box with center hole and bolt holes aligned

Make sure you put painters tape on of bolts so you can get your nuts back on.

Paint two to three light coats. I did four just because.

Take everything off after the paint has dried. I waited about 5-10 minutes in between coats. And the whole process was about an hour.

Nice. I actually didn't even put on any tape. I just sprayed. The hubs are so textured that if you don't have a great spray pattern it doesn't matter because you can't tell. I do like the look without caps though. Very nice

I was under the impression over spray was not a good thing? Why do people cover anything when painting? Wouldn't the nut be harder to get on the bolt if there were 4 coats of rustoleom paint on it? I just did it out of precaution. Anyone painting their hubs can do whatever they want I just did it so the general population who has No idea what they are doing messes up.

I get taping the lugs up. I'm just confused by the pizza box base. I'm not trying to be critical, I just don't get the extra effort
 
Brush-on Rustoleum satin black FTW. Takes about 10 seconds to do.


But @ the OP- what you did looks good!

Unless I'm missing something, I wouldn't want to paint (or get paint on) the rotor and caliper. That's why I would mask it all off, I didn't realize or think about being able to brush paint on it. I like that idea too.

The hubs have a rough surface so the brush marks will not show. If you brush the chrome you will see brush marks and it will look like poo.

The easiest way to get rid of the chrome is plastidip or wrap as documented on here to no end.
